Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) general secretary and Sudhakar Reddy, CPI general secretary, have issued the following statement on August 18.THE BJP and the prime minister have threatened to go to all the Left constituencies protesting against the Left parties role in the so-called “disruption” of the parliament, particularly the Rajya Sabha. Official statistics report that the Rajya Sabha worked for a barely nine percent of the allotted time. The BJP displays selective amnesia by forgetting that the Rajya Sabha functioned for just two percent of the time in the 2010 winter session.

Stop Repressive Measures

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 12, 2015.THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the arrest of P Madhu, secretary of the Andhra Pradesh state committee of the Party and Central Committee member. Madhu was arrested at the Amudalavalasa railway station, in Srikakulam district in the early morning of August 12. The police have arrested him to prevent him from visiting the area where forcible land acquisition is taking place for the Polaki Power Plant.

Twin Train Accidents

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 5. THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock at the twin train accidents in Harda in Madhya Pradesh in which 30 people have died and many injured.  The Kamayani Express and the Janata Express going on parallel tracks were derailed and some of the coaches fell into the adjoining river.Accidents on the railways are happening with alarming regularity. Yet, the railway ministry and the government have not woken up to the dire conditions of the railways and the abysmal safety

DYFI Expresses Solidarity with Nepal

A DELEGATION of the central executive committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India visited Nepal on July 18 under the leadership of Avoy Mukherjee, general secretary and handed a cheque equaling to ten lakh of Nepali rupees to Nepal Youth Federation, earthquake relief fund collected from across India by its activists.

The delegation visited many sites of destruction and shelter camps.

Dinanagar Attack Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 28.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Dinanagar, Punjab in which seven people were killed including a senior police official. This attack by a three-member squad, reportedly, coming from across the border in Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Condoled

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 22.

THE Mumbai blasts of 1993 was a heinous terrorist attack killing 257 innocent people and causing injuries to scores of others. It is imperative that the criminals responsible should be brought to book and punished. There is ample evidence that the main culprits have escaped the law with the help of agencies across the border. Every effort has to be made from all fora available to bring them back to India to stand trial and consequent punishment under law.

On One Rank One Pension

IN a letter written by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on July 10, to the agitating ex-servicemen who are on a dharna and indefinite relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi since June 14, solidarity was expressed to their concerns over the issue of 'One Rank, One Pension'. The letter noted that the armed forces of this country have played a crucial role in the national life and made great sacrifices for the unity and territorial integrity since the inception of our republic.
