THE recent indictment of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani and his associates by a Court in United States of America in the ‘Solar Energy Bribery Scheme’ running into more than US$ 250 million exposes once again the Adani group’s vast corruption and its ability to influence Central and state governments in gaining lucrative contracts.

THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on November 6, has registered its strong protest against the BJP-led union government over the non-availability of adequate Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and other fertilisers in several parts of the country when the sowing of Rabi crops was at its peak. Farmers were made to run from pillar to the post for getting the important fertiliser –DAP when it was most required.

INDIA has been struggling with severe floods and unprecedented heavy rainfall throughout 2024, resulting in significant loss of lives and extensive property damage. Reports indicate that thousands of lives have been lost due to the extreme weather conditions. The relentless rains have led to widespread devastation in states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Tripura, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. The floods have displaced millions, forcing them to evacuate their homes and seek shelter in temporary relief camps.

TRIPURA has been hit by unprecedented rainfall during the period August 19-23, 2024 leading to the most devastating floods in recent times. Thirty one people have been killed and some are reported missing. AIKS, in a statement issued on August 29, has condoled the loss of lives and expressed its solidarity with their families. There has been widespread loss of crops, cattle and massive damage to houses.

THE All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), in a statement issued on August 16, has noteds with concern the gross dereliction of duty leading to the 19th gate chain link of the Tungabhadra Dam breaking and inundating of nearby regions. Absence of regular monitoring and continuous inspection of the crest gates led to the accident. AIKS demands stringent action against the negligent officials and accountability of the union government.
