A COURT case filed by the RSS/BJP-supported trade union has threatened to sabotage the Kerala government's takeover of a public sector company which the central government intends to shut down.The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front government of Kerala had expressed its willingness to take over Instrumentation Limited, a public sector undertaking (PSU) of the central government which the BJP-led government at the centre is closing down.Ever since the Palakkad unit of the Instrumentation Limited was set up at Kanjikode in 1974, the unit had been generating profits.

RSS workers attacked the Thiruvananthapuram district committee office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on November 19th night.The incident took place a day after another attack at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation which left the City Mayor V K Prasanth and four councillors injured.

Form Judicial Commission to Probe Hunger Deaths in Jharkhand: AIKS

THE All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has demanded the formation of a judicial commission to examine the recent hunger deaths in Jharkhand. On November 10, an AIKS delegation, led by P Krishnaprasad, visited Karimati Village in Simdega where 11-year-old Santoshi Kumari died due to starvation on September 28.So far, five starvation deaths have been reported from Jharkhand. The other deaths were of Baidanath Ravi Das of Dhanbad, Rooplal Murmu of Mohanpur in Deoghar, Suresh Oraon of Garwa, and Vinod Ravi Das of Katras of Dhanbad. Of the five, three are Adivasis.

WEST BENGAL: Centenary of the October Revolution Observed in Kolkata

CPI(M) West Bengal state committee has organised a year long programme to celebrate the centenary of the October Revolution. It concluded with a massive public meeting in Kolkata. The meeting was attended by two thousand people despite inclement weather.Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury explained the significance of the October Revolution even after 100 years. He said that the revolution proved that through it the exploitation of the working people can be brought to an end. It also proved that what Marx had said held true even 50 years later.

On November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, protest demonstrations were held across Karnataka by Left parties – CPI(M), CPI, SUCI(C) – in most district centres. MARKING the conclusion of centenary celebrations of the October Revolution, a meeting was organised by the CPI(M) on November 7 at MB Bhavan in Hyderabad. State secretariat member of the Party, T Jyothi hoisted the Red Flag. Addressing the meeting held on the occasion, G Nagayya, state secretariat member of the Party, lauded the October Revolution as a beacon light which had given inspiration to peoples in several countries to conduct class struggles for achieving the lofty ideals of well-being of humanity and ensuring equal opportunities to the people.
