Continue Protest Movement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 29, 2016.THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) greets the lakhs of people who came out into the streets on November 28 to protest against the attack on their livelihoods and the burdens imposed upon the people through the withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have misleadingly called the national protest day as a Bharat bandh. None of the opposition parties which joined the protest had called for a Bharat bandh.

Prime Minister Betrays Commitment

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 25.THE Modi government has betrayed the commitment made by the prime minister on November 8 that people will be allowed to exchange the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes till December 30.The prime minister had made this announcement on November 8 in his address to the nation. Not only that, he had further stated that the limit for the exchange of old notes will be increased from November 25 till December 30.

West Bengal Left Front on By-election results

THE by-elections to Coochbehar, Tamluk Lok Sabha and Manteswar assembly constituencies in West Bengal have turned into a total farce. The ruling party in the state had created an atmosphere of terror even before the elections process was duly started. In many assembly areas, the ruling party did not allow the Left Front to campaign, voters were threatened. On the day of voting, hundreds of polling booths were captured and false voting took place without any limit.

Left Front won in Assembly By-elections in Tripura

THE results of the by-elections to two assembly constituencies in Tripura were declared on November 22. Left Front sponsored CPI(M) candidates won both the seats with decisive margins against their nearest contestants. While CPI(M) candidate Jhumu Sarkar won with a margin of 3,374 over his nearest BJP contestant in Barjala, Biswajit Datta came out victorious with a thumping lead of 16,094 against the TMC candidate in Khowai.

Currency Crisis: Callous Steps

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 18.THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) reiterates that till adequate supply of currency notes are available, transactions with old notes should be allowed till December 30, the date announced by the government after which they will be illegal. The people of the country are being subjected to extremely inhuman harassment and collapse of their day-to-day livelihood.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 17.THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemns the attack by workers belonging to the Trinamul Congress on CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and secretary of the West Bengal state committee, Surya Kanta Mishra on November 17.Surya Kanta Mishra was leading a procession in the connection with the bye elections to the Tamluk parliamentary constituency in the Haldia segment.

Observe November 28 – All India Protest Day

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 23.THE six Left parties had decided yesterday to observe a week-long mass mobilisation of protest from November 24 to 30 against the miseries imposed on the people due to the withdrawal of the 1000 and 500 rupee notes.  The opposition parties in parliament have now decided, through separate calls by  parties, to observe November  28 as an All India Protest Day – Akrosh Divas.The CPI(M) calls upon all its units across the country to organise an All India Protest Day on
