CITU Conference Rally: Vows to fight against Capitalist onslaught

UPON the culmination of the 16th All India Conference of CITU, a mammoth rally was taken out from Saidapet Metro to Singaravelar Thidal (YMCA, Nandanam) along the Anna Salai. This worker's orderly rally itself is significant considering this is the first time in 20 years a rally was allowed to be taken on this busy thoroughfare due to a ban by the Madras High Court.Following a cultural programme, the public meeting was presided over by A Soundararajan, vice-president, CITU.

West Bengal: Struggle against CAA to continue on the streets

THE Kolkatta district committee of the CPI(M) held a massive rally against the CAA and the proposed NPR and NRC. The rally was held at Shaheed Minar, Kolkatta on January 20, 2020. Thousands of people from different sections of the society participated in the rally. The public meeting was addressed by Surjya Kanta Mishra, state secretary of CPI(M), Mohammad Salim, Polit Bureau member of the Party and other leaders.Surjya Kanta Mishra said that the Kerala state assembly has passed a resolution against the CAA and moved to the Supreme Court against it.

Karnataka: Massive rally in Gulbarga against CAA

A MASSIVE rally, with an estimated participation of over five lakh people, on January 21, 2020 in Gulbarga, Karnataka gave a clarion call for a civil disobedience against the central government for implementing the CAA(Citizenship Amendment Act). The call for the rally was given by the Karnataka People’s Forum(KPF) comprising political parties and other sections of the civil society.

Maharashtra: Scrap NPS, restore old pension scheme

A JOINT convention by employees of central and state government, railways and teachers was held in Mumbai on December 24, 2019 demanding the scrapping of NPS(new pension scheme) and restoration of the OPS(old pension scheme).The convention was attended by members of the Western Railway Employees Union, National Railway Mazdoor Union, organisation of teachers and state government employees and other central government employees organisation’s affiliated to confederation of central government employees and workers, like postal, income tax etc.

Jharkhand: Report on state assembly elections

FOR 81 seats of the state assembly, elections were held from November 30 to December 20 and counting was done of December 23, 2019.In a meeting of all the political parties convened by the Election Commission of India, all the opposition parties including the Left parties demanded that the elections be held on one day. But the election commission decided to hold the election in five phases, took no steps to stop flow of illegal money, neither restricted pro-BJP officials who were openly campaigning.
