CPI(M) Leaders Attacked in Tripura

Another brutal attack on the CPI(M) leaders and workers was unleashed in Charilam Bazar, Sepahijala district, by the ruling BJP miscreants who also killed Comrade Sahid Miah, (65), a farmer, former Party member and presently closely associated with the party. This attack took place on November 30.
The CPI(M) leaders and workers assembled to reopen the Charilam local committee office that was forced close by the BJP miscreants for the last 57 months by unleashing extreme forms of terror.
Thereafter, CPI(M) had a plan of leading a mass deputation to the BDO, Charilam block to press on some important local issues of the people . Necessary permission of this programme was accorded by the police. After opening the Party office, while the CPI(M) procession was about to start towards the BDO office, the BJP miscreants ganged up on another side of the market and started throwing broken glass bottles and stones at the CPI(M) gathering.
Though initially, CPI(M) workers resisted the miscreants, the miscreants further reinforced themselves with bombs and other lethal weapons. Comrade Sahid Miah was hit on the head by a heavy brick stone. Around 12 leaders and cadres, including Bhanulal Saha, MLA and secretary, CPI(M) Sepahijala district, Pradesh Roy, district committee member, and others were injured on the spot. Five of the injured were taken to G B Hospital, Agartala. Comrade Sahid Miah succumbed to his injuries immediately after admission. With this killing, till now 24 comrades have been killed during the BJP rule.
Manik Sarkar, Polit Bureau Member, Jitendra Chowdhury, CPI(M) state secretary, and other leaders of the Party visited G B Hospital.
CPI(M) state secretariat in a statement condemned the cowardly killing of an aged farmer, condoled the family members and relatives of the martyr, and demanded stern legal action against the killers. Jitendra Chowdhury condemning this murder said, all the miscreants are the pets of the state deputy chief minister, Jishnu Debbarma who is the god-father of the miscreants.
CPI(M) called for a protest demonstration against this killing all over the state on December 1, 2022.
